As shopping carts we were as close as could be. We vowed to stick together. We did until the water rushed in overtaking us.
“Come back,” shouted Simon.
“No!” we shouted. “We think what you want us to do is stupid!”
“But the point of the game is that you do what I say,” said Simon.
“We don’t want to play with you anymore,” said the two.
Simon rolled back to the area above water to the store where they lived. The other two, they were swept away by flood waters. This was a sad ending to the game “Simon Says.”

Thank you Rochelle for this lovely Flash Fiction! And to those reading this, thank you for taking the time to stop by! Now go and have a great Friday, OK?
I can’t top Zooky’s comment so I will suffice it to say, enjoyable read.
Many thanks!
Sometimes, Simon knows what he’s talking about and it’s not all “Simon says touch your nose” silliness. Good story!
Thank you!
Dear Barbara,
Oh the talking shopping carts this week. I work in a grocery store and find these quite unsettling. Simon says, “nice one.”
shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you Rochelle!
Simon knew best! Great take on the prompt.
Thank you Sandra!

I like this one and a lovely take on the Simon says game and a warning if we don’t do as Simon says!!!
Thank you MT!
Ha ha! Very sad, indeed. I see the picture in a whole new light now. Those other two carts don’t look like they want to play at all!
They should have done as Simon said…don’t you think?
You should always do what Simon says! Most definitely.
🙂
But, Simon said…
He did!
I have not thought about that childhood game for years, And just like when I was a kid – ‘Simon’ was usually the only winner.
