Today I am taking part in Alastair Forbes’ flash fiction challenge entitled Sunday Photo Fiction! In this challenge, Al provides a photo prompt and asks that we write a short bit of flash fiction, one with a beginning, middle and end, using 200 words or less. Ready for my bit of flash?

The Archway
It was an ordinary, plain archway to say the least. Most folks passing by would not give it a second glance. This is how the builders wanted it to appear.
This archway, built not all that long ago, used some rather ordinary materials. What was strange were the unusual outfits the builders wore. They wore full body suits that included hoods with facemasks and gloved hands. What was also strange was how quickly it went up.
It had some interesting lines and patterns. These would photograph well, which was why Bethany grabbed her camera and headed out to take photos for her blog. On her way, walking through the park with its towering oak trees, and benches, she snapped photos.
As she approached the archway, she stopped to take photos of the contrasting stonework in the wall beyond the arch. Stepping inside the archway, she suddenly felt a strange tingling throughout her body. The air around her shimmered, and out of nowhere a glowing city appeared.
She turned back and noticed that the park was gone. Behind her were rolling green hills dotted with springtime flowers. Stepping forward, she heard a voice that said, “Welcome to Bandlesville Bethany.”

Nice one Barb, I love a good dimensional travel story 😀
It was a fun one to write Lyn! Hugs and be well!
Brilliant story 🙂 I loved it. Something along the lines of what I was going to do
Hang on a minute. I was following your blog, and now it is telling me I can follow it? Have you changed its address?
Puzzling! I have no idea what happened. That has happened to me with others before…WP issue?
Yeah. It has done it a fair bit of late.
Figures! WP is of the mind-set that if “it ain’t broke” they fix it. 🙂
Yep. They already changed something else recently. Makes me grrrr
🙂 Wish they would stop that!
Me too. It was fine the way it was last year
Agreed!
Great imagination, but of course we all now need to know where Bandlesville is!
Where you think it should be, it is! 😉
What an imagination you have.
It lurks in the dark and the light corners, and even in between, of my mind! 🙂
