Are you ready for scary? I’m participating in the online adventure travel and photography magazine LetsBeWild.com’s Wild Weekly Photo Challenge for bloggers This week’s Challenge is: Scary!
When we first moved up here to the Sierra Foothills from the San Francisco Bay Area we were not prepared for some the scary side of living in the Foothills! I am glad that we have not encountered, and hope that we never do, the mountain lion, although we have see evidence of them being around! Sometimes what is scary needs to be viewed up close!
Spiders, just like the one on the LBW challenge, scare a lot of us. Here are some of the ones in my backyard! I was challenged by this guy as I tried to photograph him.
We came home one night and were greeted by this fellow on the door jamb of our house! Here it is closer up!While at the lake, this fellow headed right towards me. I got out of the water really quick! Can you imagine walking through the woods, hearing a noise and then finding this looking at you?Or, there you are camping and when you wake up this fellow is strolling through your camp!I found these little guys on my apricot tree and they were in a mass! I think that they are more ugly than scary! Thanks to the folks at Let’s Be Wild for the honorable mention on the last challenge, and for giving me the opportunity to participate in this one! Please click here to find my entry and please do leave a comment on their site for me!
Now go and have a great Thursday! Thanks for visiting this scary post!
Great photos Babs, I seriously couldn’t cope with spiders that size though, I freak at the tiny ones we get in Ireland 😉
They are very gentle creatures. Although the first photo he was charging at me, which is why the butt is up in the back.
That wolf has a mesmerizing stare. I would not like him to fix me with that look
It was amazing that he looked right at me as I snapped the photo! Thank you for the comment!
Great photos Babs. I remember our encounters with wolves and bears while in Yellowstone. They are beautiful animals but a bit scary to come across in the wild sometimes.
Thank you! They are beautiful and scary too!
Great wildlife photos! Love the wolf picture especially!
Snakes scare me the most! I’m amazed at the close shots of the wolf and bear. Beautiful creatures, but scary! Have a great day!
Having a lens that gets in close is a plus! You have a great day too!
They all look nice and cozy in your pictures….prefer to keep them there, though.
Your photos are all beautifully scary. I am amazed that you were able to take photos of the bear and the wolf. 🙂 Now the last one is utterly eeewwyyyy…. gave me goosebumps just by looking at them. 🙂
I had to go and cut the branch. It gave me the willies!
Spiders are my most terrifying creatures…this was a scary one indeed…
Good photos of the scarier things to be found outdoors. The bear is probably easier to shoo away than the tarantula.
The tarantula charged me and raised his butt! It was to make him more fearsome! Did it work?
ah! yes, you DO have spiders and snakes — and wolves and bears! i love the way the bear’s lips are curled! the wolf looks so friendly; its eyes are amazing!
great work, amiga!

What was amazing was to catch him looking right at me!
