I have been waiting for the rain to let up so that I can do my Wild Weekly Photo Challenge.  There is no sign of it stopping, so I decided to re-post this blog from the past…

I wanted to end the month of January with photos of memorable moments from years past. Winter this year has been non-existent not only in December, but this month as well. We have had a total of around 11″ of rain this season, and by now we should have over 20″. I miss the rain, and tonight we will be getting trace amounts. I am hoping that the remainder of the winter makes up for the lack of precipitation. Come back with me to visit January’s past:

Ice Crystals pop up out of the ground 2011

We are hoping that we see similar scenes here in the coming February and March of this year! I am hopeful that I will be able to post photos of this year’s winter season for you with snow!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great Friday!

We had a bit of the white stuff yesterday, but not enough for me to put on my old snow suit.  There was not even enough to make a  snow angel!  😦  But I did want to share with you what it looks like when we do get snow!

Leaving from home, I made my way down the road.

A beautiful old oak

You can barely see the flakes coming down, but they are there.

On my drive to work close to home

As I get closer to the winery, I take this shot.

Apple trees in the snow

As I approach the winery, here is my last stop before I get to work.

Final stop before getting to work

Here is the view as I pull into the driveway.

Here is the view from my office window. If you click on the photo you will see a larger image and you can see the flakes coming down.

On my break I take this photo.

And I went out to the Caltrans cameras so that you could also see what the freeways look like. The first image is of Dutch Flat, and the second is in South Lake Tahoe on Highway 50 at Ski Run below Heavenly Valley Ski Area.

The snowflakes are big and fat, then small and skinny! There is little or no accumulation, it just depends where you are!

I made it in to work today, but was able to get some photos that I will post later! Stay tuned as the weather could either change and really come down, or just stay as it is!

I must say, looking out the window of my office and seeing the blanket of white: It is just beautiful!

Ground Hog Day - Photo by Aaron Silvers

This morning at Gobbler’s Knob, located in Punxsutawney, PA, Punxsutawney Phil, a ground hog, was removed from his burrow and looked around at the crowd and saw his shadow! This means we have 6 more weeks of winter! If he did not, that would mean that spring would be coming in early!

Boy are we glad that there will be 6 more weeks of winter! We have not had much of one this year. Well, we are hoping that we get more rain, and some snow! We are still 10″ below normal. I am keeping my fingers crossed and still doing the rain dance!

Well, winter is upon us! Here in the Foothills, the season has been unusual. By this time we should have had a number of significant storms. Our rain total for fall: two hundredths of an inch. Does this mean we will get slammed later? Who knows!

To bring in the season, I thought I would share some past winter photos with you!

Foothills rainbow!

The flakes are coming down!

Snow at the winery

It started to snow one night...

and kept snowing...

and snowing!

I love the snow and so does our pooch!

Welcome to winter!

The leaves have left most of the trees and shrubs here in the Sierra Foothills, and I bid a fond adieu to Fall.

Thank you fall for your beautiful colors in our trees..

Pistachio Tree in full color

And the wonderful colors that we found this season along the rivers…

The beautiful Poplars along the American River

Farewell to the beautiful colors in our fields…

Fielda aglow with fall color

And farewell to the colors in our beautiful mountains…

I wish nature a good slumber and I look forward to your bursting forth in spring!
