It was a day like any other. What was different about this day was that my husband came into the house declaring that the dog ran a cat up one of our many trees in front of the house. He told me which tree, as he came inside with the dog, and I went out with a bowl of cat food. Immediately the cat came down from the tree, and this is when I met Toby!

The Face to Love!

This was in July 2010.

We fed the kitten for two days until the dog scared him off. About two weeks later, I saw the kitty at the top of the driveway. I looked at my husband and asked him to please take the dog inside as I wanted to fetch this kitty and at least give it a chance.

I found the kitty in the brambles, covered with stickers and burrs. And while he was ensconced under the bush that he was making his home, I brought out the food bowl. He was all for it! Weaving between my legs, he followed me down the driveway. We had set up an area for him in our woodshed. The following day the kitty had commandeered the deck off our bedroom. It appeared that he was here to stay!

My first night with Barb and Paul

The first night on our back deck, and knowing how he would be a snack for a coyote, I insisted that we put him in the garage for the first night. Yeah, we forgot about a cat box, but he had plenty of water and food. In the morning there was quite a package under my car, but the kitty came out, rubbing against our legs and purring like he was afraid it would go out of style if he did not make himself known! We fixed the box problem.

As we had another cat, we had to make sure that the new kitty was healthy before bringing him into our home, not that he did not have accommodations already! He had to use the puppy condo – afghan included, water bowl, a new food dish.

Toby's New Digs

Toby made a trip to our local vet, and when he got the “A-OK” he moved into our house. We had to remove a lot of the stickery stuff in his fur, but the day we got the OK he was inside and immediately declared himself as part of our family!

Toby is an American Bob Tail, and when he runs, he looks like a bunny hopping down the path! There are issues with a kitty like this, but that is another story! We are hoping to record a video shortly that will be called “The Tushy Tango.” You will have to see his dance to believe how the name fits!

Our little Mr. Adorable, was named, and he is the sweetest cat we have ever met! Not only has he captured our hearts, but he captured one of the dogs toys!
