Most days in the summer evenings our skies are clear with nary a cloud to be seen. Last night a slight bit of monsoonal flow blew through. This comes to us by way of Arizona. The colors were pretty amazing so I parked myself outside to snap off a few photos to share with you!

Aren’t the colors incredible? And the textures on the bottom side of the clouds? I love it!

Have a great Tuesday, and thanks for visiting today!

Sunsets. What is it that makes our sunsets so spectacular? There are a number of factors that can be attributed to creating a beautiful sunset. Here is my entry into the Let’s Be Wild photo challenge, with a preamble on the contributions, both man made and natural, that give us the beauty of a setting sun!

Some might think that it is dust that causes the brilliant sunsets, however, it has to actually do with angles and refraction of light. It is violet and blue bands in the light spectrum that attracts our eyes, and our eyes are drawn to it. One thing I have noticed, whether it is the rising sun, or the setting sun, if you pay particular attention, you will see all the colors of the rainbow. This means that the moisture in the atmosphere plays into this game too! And so does pollution.

We were visiting my Mother-in-Law in Arizona, and the timing was right for this series of shots. The area of the State: North Eastern. Are you ready for an incredible sunset? These are in time progression…

It begins…

The intensity of the colors resonates

An amazing play of colors

The colors reduce as the sun sets

Watch it subside as darkness takes over

The town of Prescott in the ending sunset

One final shot before we say goodnight!

I am now watching the sunrise which is equally as beautiful! Maybe that will be the subject of another challenge!

I’m participating in the online adventure travel magazine LetsBeWild.com’s Wild Weekly Photo Challenge for bloggers   This week’s Challenge is: Sunsets…   Stop by their site to see the photo challenge for this week, and winners from the prior weeks!  Feel free to leave a comment to me on their web page!

“I remember a hundred lovely lakes, and recall the fragrant breath of pine and fir and cedar and poplar trees. The trail has strung upon it, as upon a thread of silk, opalescent dawns and saffron sunsets.” Hamlin Garland

Night was fast approaching as I picked up the camera and headed towards the beach.  It was a balmy 80 degrees.  Thunder rumbled over the volcano.  The breeze wafted by carrying the sweet salt smell of the ocean.  I settled down on a lawn chair with my camera at the ready.  There was a low fog clinging to the horizon, and I raised my camera.

The lowering sun

The sun kisses the Pacific

Still life on the ocean

Until tomorrow!

I hope that you enjoyed this sunset as much as I did!
