Little did we know that Grandpa was a collector. For years, he lived in that old, rundown house on 15 acres. I have fond memories of swimming in the old pond, picking blackberries at a patch near the house, and climbing the huge oak trees to the fort he built for us. What we never expected, after he passed away, was to find what we did!

He had so few knickknacks around the house. Behind the house, there was another outbuilding. We had to hire a team to clear the brush so that we could take down the old structure, getting the property ready for sale. That was when we found the cars. There were so many!

Most of the cars were Fords. There was a sign on the building indicating “Ford Parking Only.” This was odd to us. Why? Because not only did he a collect cars but we always thought Grandpa loved Chevys!

Inside the artists loft – Photo by Douglas M MacIlroy

Albert is one of those unusual people; one that no one would ever look at twice. He has a face that is easy to forget.

He walks through the town to the center towards the fountain. As he looks around, he finds his mark. It is a young girl of about 12. Young is good. He waves his hand as if grabbing something.

Back in his studio, he pushes his hand towards his latest piece of art. The clock starts to tick, tick, tick. He smiles. No one will ever know that the girl’s soul is what runs the clock!

The Last He Saw - Photo by BW Beacham

The Last He Saw – Photo by BW Beacham

The people waved at him from the bridge below. Little did he know that this would be the last time that he would see people again.

He had been hiking along the trail just west of the Gorigan River. His day-pack was nestled on his back. Inside he carried water, a small bite to eat, and a change of clothes just in case.

He had been examining an unusual rock formation when he heard the sound. It began as a slight humming noise, and then grew louder as it got closer. He stopped to look up, which is where the sound was coming from and noticed a glowing orb about 1,000 feet above. It was getting closer with each passing second.

Suddenly a beam of light shot down from the craft, illuminating him in an orange colored glow. Unable to move he transported to the ship. He then found himself looking out a window before him. The people waved.

The Music Room - Photo by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields

The Music Room – Photo by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields

It was in the music room at the back of the house that he came up with the lyrics to the song “Shout.” He had gotten into a fight with his parents, and the words flowed as he wrote this song.

Rather than pressing his father’s violent button, he felt that he had sold his soul. Both parents had a one-track mind, one that said he should be a working boy. He hoped he would live to tell the tale.

He loved his parents and he gave them hell. Time to kiss them goodbye with this best selling song.

I was excited when I saw the subject of this week’s WordPress Photo Challenge! The subject is “Nighttime.” Ben Huberman asks that we share nighttime photos…Ready? OK – Let’s go!

Imagine yourself on a ship and you wake up in the middle of the night. Imagine that under the curtain of your room you see light. Imagine that you think it might be morning, but it certainly does not feel like it. Imagine pushing the curtain back and you see this! You take a photo…

A ship in the night

A ship in the night

Taking another shot you acknowledge that it is the Zuiderdam.

The Zuiderdam

The Zuiderdam

You take a moment and look higher up than the ship, and there in the sky is a perfect full moon shrouded in fog!

The moon in the fog

The moon in the fog

Looking back down, you see the ship is almost straight across from you. You notice details…

Looking at it straight across

Looking at it straight across

Stepping away for a moment, then returning to the view, you see the ship pulling ahead. You say to yourself, “See you later, maybe.”

Moving on

Moving on

So, there it is…my take on “Nighttime.” Did I meet this challenge? Please let me know! I am looking forward to your comments!

Be well! ^..^

Guest host Frederic Biver has chosen a unique topic for this week’s WordPress Photo Challenge! The topic is “dialogue,” and the challenge is to feature photos that speak to you! So here we go into my world of “Dialogue.”

One of the chimps at the Sacramento Zoo was definitely saying something to me!

You wanna talk to me?

You wanna talk to me?

Sometimes what speaks to you does so very softly that you need to listen carefully! Can you hear the water inviting me in?

And, sometimes something just gets in your face and says to you, “Hey, listen to me!”

Whatcha doing?

Here is a shot of one of weeds in our area. What do you think this plant has to say?

The Star Thistle

Photos can not only speak to you but they can cause your mouth to water…Can you just about taste these strawberries?

Sweet, sweet strawberries!

Sweet, sweet strawberries!

Let me close with someone who was definitely communicating with me!

I hope that you enjoyed my take on “dialogue!” Here’s to wishing you a fabulous Friday and a spectacular weekend! Thank you for dropping in! Be well! ^..^

This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge subject is “Summer Lovin’.” Krista asks that we “share a photo that says summer lovin’ to you. It might be a favorite pair of sandals you can’t bear to part with, the homemade salsa you made with veggies from your garden, the flowers you planted, or your family frolicking on the beach. If summer is on the way in your hemisphere, show us something hot hot hot: your homemade sriracha sauce, some friends shuckin’ and jivin’ on the dance floor, or even the furnace or boiler that heats your home.” Are you ready for some Summer Lovin’? In the summer time, I just have to be near water!

There is nothing like cold water on a hot day!

Going under!

There is nothing like spending time on a black sand beach in Hawai’i!

Or sitting on the beach enjoying the sea!

Or, how about snorkeling in it?

And, at the end of the day, enjoying the warm evening sunsets!

Watching to sun set at the waters edge

This is my Summer Lovin’! What is yours?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend! Be well! ^..^
