The Wringer - Photo by Alastair Forbes

The Wringer – Photo by Alastair Forbes

Their relationship had been good at the start, just like most. But then things changed. Thinking back on it she realized that the signs were there.

The first warning bell for her was when they went out to dinner one night. It was such a great evening. They had dinner at La Bonne Panais, an upscale restaurant. It was great food, great wine, great conversation, and then the check came. How could he have left his wallet at home?

The next was when they went on a trip to the coast. He had not made reservations and every place was full. Sleeping in the car was not her idea of a romantic weekend away.

Then there was the dinner at his place. Dinner turned out to be Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and copious amounts of vodka, on his part anyway. He ended up passing out on the couch.

The last straw was when on a sleep over, with him once again drinking too much, that she woke up to find him sitting on the edge of the bed telling her to get out. He accused her of doing something she did not do.

He certainly put her through the wringer!

Christmas 2013 - Photo by Alastair Forbes

Christmas 2013 – Photo by Alastair Forbes

It was an innocuous looking ornament. Plain. Gold. Shiny. No one would give it a second look. But Jilly did. She leaned forward to look at it closer. With a whoosh she was pulled in to Christmas past.

Startled, she looked around her and found herself in her parent’s home. A voice over her shoulder said, “Welcome back my darling.”

She turned quickly and saw her mother standing there. Her Mother’s hands reached out embracing her daughter. Jilly breathed in deeply taking in the fragrance she remembered that her mother always wore. Tears welled in her eyes.

“Mom!” she said choking back a sob. “I have missed you so much!”

“Silly girl! How could you miss me when I have always been here,” replied her Mom now holding her out at arm’s length.

Jilly thought, “You have been gone for almost 10 years.”

Her Mother reached out and rested her hand over her daughter’s heart. “I am always here,” she said.

Jilly drew in a deep breath of surprise and found herself back in 2013 looking at a golden ornament on the tree. She knew that despite her Mother being gone that she did live on in her own heart!

We live in an area where some folks do not believe in spaying or neutering their cats. As such every year new kittens show up in the neighborhood.   Toby adopted us three years ago, and earlier this year Annie showed up on our doorstep, and she went to a good home! We now have a new kitty that has decided our home is a good place to stay. We named him Scrappy!

My name is Scrappy!

My name is Scrappy!

Today I wanted to share photos and a quick video of this very loving kitty! Maybe you might have a spot for him in your home?

Scrappy is a black male kitty with a star on his chest. As you can see from his face, this little guy has gotten into a few tussles!

Whiskers forward means I am happy

Most cats stay away from people, but this cat decided he was making this place his home. Within one day we were able to pet him, and after a week he was sitting on our laps as this photo shows and so does the video below…

Rub my belly!

Rub my belly!

He is a bit skinny and we are working with him on that! He is young and still has some filling out to do. Right now he is all legs!

I am all legs!

I am all legs!

After having a good dinner, he falls asleep at our feet!

Sleepy with a full belly!

Sleepy with a full belly!

We are looking to find a good home for this sweet boy, and if you are interested please let me know! Now, the star of today’s show, and just to show you what a love bug this little guy is, here is Scrappy in action!

Thanks for visiting with me and Scrappy today! Have a terrific Tuesday!

Who does not love a big, huge kiss from their sweetheart? Of course, it does depend on who the kiss comes from, don’t you think? Well, I got to witness one big kiss that totally tickled my heart. Maybe it will tickle yours too!

Where did I witness this kiss? At the San Diego Zoo! The kissers? The Rhinoceros! So before we get to the kiss, how about we check out the two that reside at the zoo? While this is not my favorite animal…it does come close to the elephant!

Now the two Rhino’s were in different enclosures. One was enjoying the water, and the other was getting face scratches from a docent. When the one in the water stood up, this was my first view of it!

My first view of the Rhino

My first view of the Rhino

Here is the other one getting face scratches. Notice there is a fellow right behind the head as you can see his leg just behind the Rhino’s leg and the top of his hat behind the right ear! If Rhino’s could purr, this one was!

Face scratches

Face scratches

The one in the water decided to play with a ball that was just at the edge of its pool.

Playing!

Playing!

The other Rhino, having been satisfied with its face scratching decided to lie down.

Do I look enticing?

Do I look enticing?

We notice that the other Rhino, the one in the pool, decides it has had enough with the water and starts to move out.

Coming out of the pool and heading towards...

Coming out of the pool and heading towards…

Sauntering gracefully, it heads towards the other Rhino. Reaching the gates on the enclosure it leans its head down. The other Rhino raises its head. And through the gate they share a kiss!

The Kiss!

The Kiss!

I feel very fortunate to have captured this special moment!

Happy Mother’s Day to all Mom’s! May your day be truly special! And, thank you for spending a bit of time with me today!
