We took a cruise along the inside passage of Alaska and then did the land tour to Mt. McKinley, Denali and then Fairbanks. On the trip to Mt. McKinley and Denali, we road a train to get to our destinations. For today, I decided to share with you some of the views from my seat, and on the platform of the trains we were on! It was an amazing ride.

On the way from Whittier to Mt. McKinley, rail cars sit on the tracks.

A bit of sun comes out and with the rain, I spy a rainbow!

A stream meandered along the route that we were on. The train slowed allowing me to capture this shot!

There is only one track, so we pulled over at one point to let another train pass.

This next series of photos were taken between Mt. McKinley and Denali. We pass through Curry, AK.

There were a number of bridges, and here is a shot with the train crossing over…

While the site is not up and running yet, we are hoping to get it launched as soon as the dust settles in the house from construction! The website address is: BWBPhotos.com

Lines always seem to catch my eye.  They can make for some amazing photos! Your eye travels along each line looking to see where it begins and where it ends. Today I thought that I would share with you some lines, lines and more lines…

I am taking part in Mondays Finish the Story, which is a challenge that provides a photo prompt and the opening sentence to your story. The rules indicate that the story you come up with must be between 100-150 words, not including the opening line….Are you ready for my story?

2014-12-22 - BW Beacham
“As the year wound down to a close, they gathered around the table and raised their glasses.” Everyone was in good cheer. Christmas was coming up and they all knew that this year it would be fabulous.

As she looked around the room, she noted the amazing tree that was in the corner, decorated in gold. Lights twinkled on the tree making it glow. There was nothing like the fragrance of a fresh Christmas tree. A mass of presents lay on the floor beneath it.

Garland surrounded the windows and staircase; poinsettias were here and there around the room. A fire crackled in the fireplace. Looking out the window, she noticed a gentle snow was falling.

Laughter erupted around the table drawing her attention back to the group. She smiled and they all raised their glasses again for yet another toast.

John was the one leading this toast. “Here is to the biggest heist yet, and it going off without a hitch.”

There is something so very delicate looking about jellyfish. They gather up the water creating a balloon effect and then release moving forward. I wanted to share with you today some of the jellyfish that I saw when I was in Alaska! I saw two different kinds: One was a bright orange with long tentacles, the other was white with very short tentacles.

This one was in the bay at the town of Ketchikan. It was the bright color that drew my eye as I looked down on it!

When we went on a cruise, one of the things that I noticed was that there was artwork everywhere! It was in the hallways, staircases, and in the main gathering areas. I wondered what it would be like to have a cruise line want to use your art. Imagine? For today, I wanted to share the variety of the art that we saw! Ready?

I love this artist’s work that we saw on the outer wall of the art gallery on board.

Ben Huberman, over at WordPress, has chosen the subject “Converge” for this week’s photo challenge.

Converge is defined as 1) To move toward one point and join together, or to come together and meet; 2) To meet or come together to form a crowd or group; 3) To come together and have one interest, purpose, or goal.

So, for today, I will be converging with others in this WordPress Photo Challenge! Ready?

Spiders are amazing insects with the ability to truly capture the definition of converge!

On the deck of a ship, imagine your eyes wandering along the jagged coastline in Alaska. You are looking for the white spots which indicate Bald Eagles. A movement near the water catches your eye, and heaving itself up onto the rocks you realize that you are viewing a sea lion. Then you notice the cluster of them covering the rocks! Click on the photos to see these amazing critters better!

With their noses pointing up in the air, I wonder what they smell…

As we sail through the passages, the sea lions swim near the ship. I caught a pair, with one looking at the ship, and another swimming away from the ship!

We were so fortunate to see the amount of sea life that we did. If you have the opportunity to visit Alaska, I hope that you too get to enjoy the sea life too!

Thank you for dropping by today! Have a wonderful Wednesday! Be well! ^..^

There is nothing that compares to looking out over the rail of a ship, standing in the bitter cold, and looking at a massive glacier! Best viewing of glaciers, so that you can see the amazing colors, is when the sky is overcast. Luck was with me when I took these photos. I love the color blue, and, for today, I wanted to share with you some amazing photos of glacial ice up close and blue!
