A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to go up in the air in the winter time. A storm was due to come in, and I just could not say no to the chance to see the snow coverage in the Foothills and along the Sierra Nevada range.

We were headed north.

Serpentine Mine

Serpentine is actually a source of asbestos, and there is a lot of it here in the Foothills. We were heading into Georgetown.

If you don’t stop before the end of the runway you go over the side! There is quite a drop off! When we took off I was able to get this shot of the town.

If you ever get the chance, stop in Georgetown. It is a quaint town with some interesting places to shop and good eats!

They do farm trees in the Foothills, and the also replant. It was amazing to see the patches of these reseeded areas all over! Taking a look at the Sierra Nevada range…

It started to get a bit turbulent as another storm was on its way in as you can see from this shot!

We were headed back and this final shot is pretty much looking down at the top of Slate Mountain.
