I am taking part in Mondays Finish the Story, which is a challenge that provides a photo prompt and the opening sentence to your story. The rules indicate that the story you come up with must be between 100-150 words….Ready?

2014-12-08 - BW Beacham

“Donning her fins and snorkel, she headed out into the deep water.” She carried her special underwater camera. Her last project was in Loch Ness. Using infrared, she captured a photo of Nessie. She was optimistic that in the coastal waters of San Diego she would capture her next!

The chop on the water was actually calm; the water clear. Her target sometimes would reportedly be deep, and sometimes close to the surface. It made an unusual sound, kind of a deep “thrum.”

Having swum a good distance away from the boat, she let herself sink and listen. Pulling out a special underwater sonar device set specifically for this sound, she turned it on. It was heading towards her!

The sound came closer. With the camera ready, she could finally see it coming her way. Raising her camera, she smiled and so did Mr. Limpet, Ladyfish, and Crusty.

They posed and she took the historic shot! Silently, she thanked George Stickle!

I sincerely hope that you enjoyed today’s story! This story is based upon characters from the 1964 movie starring Don Knotts, Carole Cook and Jack Weston.

I laugh because I met Don Knotts back in the mid-1970’s. It was a meeting I am sure that I will never forget, and he probably didn’t either. On being introduced to this talented man, who was known for his parts in The Andy Griffith Show, and, at the time, the upcoming Three’s Company, I stammered! He graciously shook my hand and I said, “I loved you in the Incredible Mr. Limpet.” His face seemed to freeze, he dropped my hand and walked away. I could have kicked myself! There you have it!
