She closed her eyes. Upon doing so, she saw a bright light. She heard the most beautiful music she had ever heard. It drew her in. Walking along the corridor the music grew louder, the light brighter. She shaded her eyes as she came into the light. There was a crowd of people, and they were smiling at her. A woman stepped forward, hand reaching out.

Her family surrounded her bed. Her husband was holding her hand. A smile formed on her face as she drew her last breath. “Mom!”

I like to think we are greeted when our time comes. Lovely.
Me too, and thank you Dale!
Loved your story. Very accurate depiction of what happens at the end. I know since I am a retired Hospice nurse. 🙂
Thanks Susan!
Lovely story, Barbara. When we think of all the nice people we’ve known in our lifetime, that will add up to a big party indeed. 🙂 — Suzanne
It will be a huge blow out for each and everyone of us!
Sad, yet comforting. She saw her mom to guide her.
Her mom was there. How many others that were close?
She must have been at peace and that makes it a happy ending despite the sorrow of the family. Nice one.
Thank you Ansumani! I am glad that my story touched you!
Wonderful touching story Barb!
I am glad that you found it so Joy. Be well my friend… ^..^
Touching the way you put it together

I hope I have sweet dreams before they start the organ harvesting.
I hope that you do too!

We can hope. Nicely written.

Thank you Rochelle!
I hope there really is a little party going on when we reach the other side 🙂
Nice story.
There will be a huge party on the other side. At least my Mom told me that.
Heartbreaking but peaceful ending. Full of emotion
I did my job then! 🙂
I found this comforting. Thanks for writing and sharing.
🙂 Thanks for reading and liking my story!
Surreal. At least she had a friendly face to welcome her on the other side of the tunnel. Nicely written!
Thank you! FYI – I remove all links from comments.
No worries 🙂 I’ll keep in mind the next Fictioneers edition not to put one!
Thank you!
Either a near-death experience or a post-death narration. I like the uncertainty.
It is a death experience. She draws her last breathe with her family present…
What a sad tale! It brought tears to my eyes.
I wanted to draw on emotion. I did my job! Thanks Yinglan for the comment! Be well my friend.
