It is Monday which is the day that I devote to the Mondays Finish the Story flash fiction challenge. The rules for this challenge are to write a story that goes with the photo and that one uses the opening line provided. The word limit is between 100-150 not including the opening line, which is in bold italicized letters. Here is the photo and my story!
“The neighbors were not happy about my choice of yard art, so much so that I actually received a complaint letter from the Homeowners Association.
The letter read, “It has come to our attention that you have recently installed extremely large art pieces in your yard. Our CC&R’s, if you read them, indicate that there is a height limitation of six feet on all garden art on properties within the association. We demand that you remove these pieces at once. Have a nice day…” The letter was signed by the Board President.
Frankly, their letter upset me! Honestly, I feel they are picking on me yet again. This is not the first time they have sent me a letter. I received another one when I put up the huge shed out back. I got yet another over the old rusty farm pieces.
What I don’t understand is why they never said a word to my neighbors about their six-foot phallus and testes!

I hope that you enjoyed my story! If you like to write, you can join in on this challenge by clicking HERE!
Thanks for taking the time to drop on by! I hope that you have a magnificent Monday and be well…. ^..^
Yes, even though it was what it was, it did stop at 6 feet. Funny piece, Barb. Well done. 😀 — Suzanne
Thank you Suzanne! It was a fun one to write!
Uh yeah, that’s not fair. Hmmm. Methinks the person running the association isn’t getting enough. Thus the six-foot phallus is apparently acceptable. Fun story, Barb. I love it! 🙂
🙂 That might be the case indeed!
This is very entertaining indeed! I wonder why they did not complain about the last one…
Thank you Francesca! Who knows?
Well done Babs ~ This is a wonderfully humorous take on your excellent photo ~ The last line rocks 🙂
😀 It was fun to write! Thanks John!
I had not even read anyone’s stories. Ha! Great Story! 🙂 I look forward to reading more.
Thanks! If you go back to the Mondays page and click on the blue fellow, you will see all who have written and their links… 🙂
Thanks.
🙂
I laughed out loud at the end! How about a Native American with his “package” visible under his clothes.
I did my job Phylor! That would be really funny to stand below and look up — neh? 🙂
I can imagine . . . .
🙂 Huge statue huge…
Hilarious! I loved this. Great prompt too. If I wasn’t away on vacation, I would have participated. Next time hopefully. But I did want to stop by and read what others had written. I enjoy reading and writing to your prompts!
You put a smile on my face Lisa! Thanks! This does run until Sunday if you get back and feel like sharing your story of the yard art! 🙂 Be well…
Love the way they tell you off in the letter and then suggest you have a nice day! Glad I’ve found your site.
Thanks and I am glad you found me!
Funny, your last line made me smile! See, the neighbours’ “phallus art” is within the 6 foot specification 🙂
🙂 Just had to do that with the neighbors art… Glad I made you smile Ali!
haha – well its amazing what passes for “art” these days!
It sure is!
Hahaha! Love it.
I am glad that you enjoyed my bit of flash! 🙂 Be well Joycelin!
Your neighbors not receiving a complaint probably had to do with size because we all know size matters, ha! Cute story.
Thanks PJ!
LOL maybe someone needs to castrate the neighbour’s artwork…and throw in a free circumcision as well 🙂 I know which artwork I’d rather have next door.
🙂 You are funny Lyn! 🙂 We had to take the phallus down, but the neighbors still have Running Horse and the bison in their yard. Go figure!
I had a coworker that was interested in doing a chainsaw sculpture in his yard. He figured a lighthouse would be a good first project. I told him to imagine, just imagine, how that might go wrong….
Did he listen to you?
As far as I know….
🙂 One can only hope!
Some people just don’t have any taste do they…..loved your story though your association was much more polite than my neighbours over my erection….
I am happy that you loved my story! I am so sorry that your neighbors gave you a hard time!
Haha…enjoyed the story 🙂
Thanks Shivangi!
Heh, indeed. I smell a conspiracy! Made me laugh 🙂
🙂 I did my job then Sonya! 🙂
Some sort of competition relating to size, by the sound of it!
Might just be!
Hahaha! I had to look up phallus. LOL! I would wonder that too. I can just image what this yard artwork looks like. Very funny!
🙂 Had some fun with that one!
Yes, I bet you did. It’s funny! (I’m sure the men don’t agree). 😀 😀
They might not!
Haha
This story cracks me up. 🙂 Love that last line though I found it an odd reason to have someone take down their art. Maybe it’s just me.
🙂 Thanks Yinglan! I had fun writing this one!
You’re welcome.
🙂
