It is Monday and once again I am participating in the Mondays Finish the Story flash fiction challenge. The rules for this challenge are to write a story that goes with the photo and uses the opening line provided. The word limit is between 100-150 not including the opening line. Here is the photo and my story!
“On March 9th, 2015, three objects were reportedly seen in the skies over the Borracho Todos los Tiempos Vineyard.”
Sitting at her desk working, she glanced out the window and noticed the objects. Picking up the phone, she called to the other office. “Look out the window!”
“What the heck are they?” asked Alice.
“I don’t know.”
Suddenly, the lights from the objects glowed brighter. Bright beams of light shot out of the vessels towards the two windows. Both Brittany and Alice simultaneously disappeared from their offices and found themselves standing behind a wine bar on the alien vessel.
Staring at them were large headed, skinny grey beings that had huge black unblinking eyes. The aliens were pounding on the bar. Inside their minds, the women heard the words, “More!”
Realizing that the aliens were asking for wine, they filled the raised glasses. Once done, the women looked at each other. Realizing the aliens were drunk, they raised the bottles said in unison, “I’ll drink to that!”

They are the first to be taken…Thank you!
[…] We are back for another edition of Mondays Finish the Story! This flash fiction challenge asks that the writer complete a story of 100-150 words, using the opening line as provided (in bold and italicized letters), and that the story goes with the photo prompt. Today’s story is another chapter in the Greys Chronicle. The original story is The Wine Bar. […]
[…] 100 words or less. Today I am tying my story to two others that I have done. The first one is: The Wine Bar. The second: […]
Oh hell yeah, I’ll drink to more wine any day! This was really fun, and so much better than those boring anal probing stories. I’d like aliens who party. 🙂
Who knows after many, many glasses of wine what the greys will do! I too appreciate those aliens that like to party…..Can you imagine? ZAP…Barb finds herself standing behind a wine bar looking at a sea of large headed grey beings….MORE!
If you’re going to be abducted by aliens there are definitely worse outcomes than that! Good story. 🙂
Thank you!
The wine bar idea is hilarious. The aliens went to a lot of trouble to find new bar staff. I hope they pay their staff well – abducted ones or not! Great story! 🙂
Thank you Millie! It was a fun twist!
Excellent way to communicate with alien life forms ~ Cheers Babs 🙂
Thanks John! Nothing like pouring wine to quench the thirst of those other worlders!
That’s one way to recruit new bar staff 🙂
It is one way! I am glad you liked my bit of flash!
Interesting and dramatic. Just think about what they are going to tell the rest of the office staff let alone the manager
No kidding! 🙂
Good one Barbara
Why thank you Shivangi!
Standing behind a wine bar. Lol
😀 Glad you liked that Susan!
Why wouldn’t aliens like the nectar of the Gods? Cute story but what did the women do with those drunken space sailors????
You have to just wait to find out!
G’day Barb Great way to end the story and even though is brekkie here, I’ll drink to that too! lol
🙂 Thanks Joanne! May you and chef G have a great day!
Great story Barb. There seems to be a few drunk aliens around today.
There are many drunken aliens around…who knew?
Ah, the aliens among us… or we among them.
Salute!
We are among them! 🙂
🙂
LOL! The aliens abducted them to serve them wine. Geez, you would think the males would be different from another planet! Haha! Loved your story!
Glad you enjoyed my story Joy! It was a fun one to write! 🙂
I did enjoy your story! I have a question. The last photo of the winery, are those cars driving down a mountain side?
No. They are the lights in the tank room reflecting on the window of my office. The day was smokey due to the summer fires.
Tank room?
I work at a winery. Behind my office there are huge tanks that hold wine. Here is the link to a post I did that shows you the tanks…Bottling Wine.
Thank you! That was interesting! You must work at a fun place. 🙂 A couple of us were trying to figure out what those lights were on your photo prompt.
Working at the winery has been fun! One never knows what a reflection in glass can make one think!
Those reflections made an amazing photo – especially with the smoke.
When I first saw that photo, which was capturing how smoky the canyon was on that day, I spooked myself! Then I realized what it was! 🙂
How funny! Yes, it would have spooked me too! After looking at it for awhile I thought it might be 2 cars and a motorcycle driving down the side of a mountain in foggy weather conditions.
🙂
