Michelle W. over at WordPress has chosen the topic “Scale” for this week’s photo challenge! I think I can do this! Ready?
How is that for scale?
The next series of photos were taken in Big Trees State Park in the Sierra Foothills.
One final shot of a ponderosa pine. Notice the horse at the bottom of this photo to get an idea of scale!
I hope that you have enjoyed my entry into this week’s photo challenge! Thanks for stopping by! Be well… ^..^

You have nailed it! Great pictures.
Thank you Ruchi!
These are great! Where are these taken?
Thank you Terri! The huge chair was in Pine Top, AZ. The forest shots are from Big Trees State Park near Angels Camp, CA. The final shot of the horse and the Ponderosa is right in my backyard!
Oh, good to know…I’ll have to check out Big Trees State Park soon!
You go east from Angels Camp, and the drive takes a bit of time. Plan on spending a good part of your day there. There are so many trails..To get a good look at where we went click on this link to Big Trees State Park. I hope that you fall in love with it as I did! There is nothing like the smell of a forest… 🙂
Very well covered. These kinds of photos and experiences always put things in perspective. 🙂
Thank you Susan! This was fun to put together!
Terrific for the theme! I think my daughter, friend Nancy and I went there when she was little, and I may have a photo of us on that stump, too. Thanks for the reminder and memories 🙂
Thank you Lola Jane! It is still a glorious forest which we visited in Sept. 2012…
You sure did capture the topic well. What huge trees. I read how the “discovery stump” was once the floor of a house built on it, and also a dance floor. Too bad humans had to cut it down to haul it around for others to see how large the tree was. I guess there weren’t Kodak moments back then.
It was an amazing place that we were fortunate to visit! Glad you enjoyed the post!
All gorgeous for the challenge – love the trees of course!
Thank you Leya! I love trees too!
It is incredible to think of the length of time these trees have been growing and what they have witnessed during their lifetime.
Some of these trees are very, very old…1000 years…
They are simply amazing. I am entranced by any structure, man made or natural that is of this vintage.
Thank you Amanda! Be well… ^..^
The tree photos could almost have been taken from our own Cathedral Grove in MacMillan Park, BC. Very nice.
Would love to see Cathedral Grove! Thanks Anneli!
Have a look at this blog post from last October. https://wordsfromanneli.wordpress.com/2013/10/02/the-giants/
Beauties in that grove! Thank you for sharing!
These are great fun photos. 🙂
Thank you Cee!
I did enjoy your entries, particularly the first image in the massive chair…Alice in Wonderland scale….
Thanks Jim! That was the first photo I thought of when this subject came up. The chair sits in the town of Pine Top, AZ.
Great scale photos, loved the chair.
Thank you Vicki! I did not fall off of it, and grace not being my middle name, that was a possibility! 🙂
Good job, I saw the warning sign.
That chair was pretty sturdy!
