Once again, I am participating in Rochelle Wisoff-Fields flash fiction challenge Friday Fictioneers. This challenge requires the writer to come up with a story that has a beginning, middle and end that goes along with the photo prompt. Today’s photo is by photographer Melanie Greenwood. Ready for my story?
The hotel management found the two bodies in front of the maze when they returned in spring. One of them was the winter caretaker; the other was the fellow who did maintenance for them during the season. He was murdered.
Not wanting the bad publicity, they quietly buried them both where they were. They raked grass seed over the top of the two graves.
Inside the hotel, they found a typewriter in the lobby with a single sheet of paper in it. Typed on the page were the words, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
