Let me start with saying that today has been a trying day. We have had issues with a router that has kept me from using the internet today until it was fixed. Then, I have been having issues commenting on other peoples blogs that I am trying to work out with WP. To top it all off this annoying little popup box keeps coming up asking for me to enter my network password! This will be fixed shortly.
Now, for today, sorry for the late post! I was recently in an area with birch trees and was amazed to find a huge “mushroom” growing out the side of a dead birch. I had never seen anything like this! It is very different than what we have here locally. Looking it up I discovered that this mushroom, or fungus, is called a Birch Polypore. Check it out!
They have a smooth brown cap on top and the underside is white. The underside is loaded with spores! And, to give you an idea of how big they are, if you splay your fingers, they are as big as that with your palm included!
Interestingly, these are annuals in the world of plants and fungus! Looking up the dead tree, you will see how they cover the tree! The black ones are from a previous season and are dead.
They remind me of steps going up the tree.
I thought they were very pretty!
I hope that you enjoyed these amazing fungi! Have a great day! Be well! ^..^
