This week the WordPress Photo Challenge subject is “Fray.” This could be a worn or raveled edge from something nature created or from constant rubbing. Photos are already coming to mind as I write this! Ready to see what Fray means to me? Let’s go!
In the spring, the buffalo in Yellowstone try to relieve themselves of their winter coats. They do this by rubbing their bodies up against the trees. We came across a tree that showed evidence of this!
Here are a couple of palm leaves that I photographed while in Mexico. Notice the strings hanging from the plants!
To me, the petals on the Gilardia always look frayed!
A jumble of seaweed that I discovered floating in the bay at Santa Catalina shows worn edges from being battered in the ocean before settling here.
The ducks around our local lake shed their feathers. These are the old feathers from a white goose.

Be well! ^..^

Thank you Quark!
Nice fray! Love the buffalo fur. Wouldn’t that be wonderful to collect, spin and knit? Wonder if anyone has done that? I took it in a totally different direction this week. Hope your weekend turns out to be warm and lovely. 😀
Thank you Veronica! If you could collect, spin and knit it, I would think that it would be very warm! I wonder if anyone has done this yet… You have a warm and lovely weekend too! Have you changed locations yet?
Not yet. 🙂 You can always catch up with me on the blog veronicaroth.com. I’ve got just over another week to go and about a month’s worth of projects to finish. Isn’t that always the way?
It is always that way! I added your link to your comment! 🙂
Great & interesting pics. I loved buffalo one……all are good.
Thank you!
I just love the photo from Yellowstone! I have never heard of how buffalo rub up against the trees. All your “fray” photos are so interesting!
Thank you Debra! They have to shed that coat somehow! I guess the trees help!
Good pics for “fray.”
Thanks Anneli!
Well – I think you did catch ‘fray’ing very well. Nice photos, and thanks for sharing.
Thank you PJ!

Thank you for the trackback! 🙂
The frayed look makes the subject that much more interesting.
It certainly was a different topic than I have seen over the last 3 years!
