We live in a world that is disposable! Sure one can recycle as there are centers everywhere. You can recycle old TV’s, cell phones, paper, plastics and many more…But sometimes one ends up with something that there is no local recycling center. So then, what does one do? They REPURPOSE the item! See if you can see the item that we repurpossed recently in this photo!
Did you see it? Well if not…Here is the item!
Yes! It’s an ugly green toilet! This is one item that was in the house when we bought it that has has always bothered me. This and the sink. So, we decided to make this toilet part of the garden. Planted in the bowl is a lovely lemon balm plant, and in the tank I planted two salvia!
The sink? Well that was one of the first things to go. It was a pedestal sink which gave us no space to store stuff in the bathroom.
So this was planted in the front yard years ago with a plant, whose name alludes me right now, that has a lovely blue flower.
What have you repurposed lately? Before throwing something away, put on your thinking cap of how else and where else you can use the item….like in the garden!
Have a wonderful Thursday! Thanks for stopping by and be well! ^..^
My wise old grandmother was re-purposing things before it became fashionable to re-purpose things. I learned from her, although I have never had a bathtub or toilet flower pot. That’s just too redneck for my tastes……..LOL
One of our neighbors was inspired and planted 2 toilets in their yard in full view for the pilots taking off and landing at our little airport! 🙂
Could that be Blue Daze that’s in the repurposed sink?
No it is not. I think it is campanula.
I’ll bet the sink and toilet are much more durable than any planting pot you can find. Perfect ‘re-purpose’ idea for both. By the way the green isn’t that bad, it could have been pink.
They sure look a lot better where they are now then where they were before! I thought about saying in my post that at least it wasn’t pink!
Very creative use of old plumbing fixtures. Adds a bit of whimsy to your beautiful garden. I once knew a woman who was forced to practice the violin as a child. In spite of prodigious talent, she resented it so much that as an adult she repurposed her violin as a planter. 🙂
And I will bet that planter is beautiful in a musical way! 🙂
Looks like the sink could make a good birdbath too.
Except for the drain it would! There was never a tight seal and I was not about to spend anything on it!
Chewing gum?
That might work! 🙂
