“Once you walk through that portal there’s no turning back!” Mom told me.
I stood in the portal, knees knocking together, and looked out. It seemed like an exciting world. One filled with life, love and adventure! How bad could this be?
“I love you Mom,” I said as I walked through the portal.
Many years later I reflected on that day. Since then I have been married twice, divorced twice, had four kids that I have raised on my own. And, I collect welfare.
How different would it have been if I did not take that step?
Thank you Rochelle Wisoff-Fields for hosting Friday Fictioneers! And to Jennifer Pendergast for the photo that inspired this bit of flash!
