Yesterday was a scary day on the road. If I didn’t have two tailgaters following me to town, where I was driving at 15 miles down to 5 due to the ice on the road, I would have turned around. We do not have shoulders on our roads, only drop offs that are precarious at best. So there was nowhere to do this. My 20 minute drive to work took almost an hour!
We still have loads of snow around due to the hard freezing temperatures we have had for more than a week now. When I took photos the other day, I not only took photos of the changes as the snow came down, but of sights that struck my creative eye after it stopped…Care to see? Then, put on your snow gear and come and follow me back outside!
The first thing I did was go to check how the roads were doing…This says it all! Yesterday, I drove through a lot of this. Most of it was compacted down and it had turned to ice.
Heading back to the house after seeing what I saw, I captured these photos around my property…Your feet will be icy cold by the time we head back in. Are you dressed warmly?
Can you see the patch of strawberries? It is actually under the snow on the upper left…
Here is one of our crepe myrtle trees. The snow is hanging on!
Where are the grape vines? Behind this snowy fence!
Looking up at the snow hanging on to the trees…This is snow in our black oaks.
All of the snow you see in these photos is still here this morning! Take away about half the snow on the road, compact it, melt it a bit, re-freeze it and this is what I have to drive to get to work! Going in late again today hoping that a lot of this melts before I have to drive over it!
Thanks for putting on the cold weather gear and coming out with me today! May you have a terrific Tuesday! See you tomorrow? Hope so!
Beautiful pics babs, I love the snow so thanks for taking us on this little venture x
Thank you Claire! I wish we had snow! We have had little precipitation this winter, and I would love to see it snow or even rain! Glad you enjoyed this post!
I’m sure I wouldn’t have a clue how to navigate, but it is so beautiful. Maybe just stay indoors and look out the windows? 🙂
That is what I did yesterday!
Always so nice to look at. But – driving in it – not so much.
Stay safe & stay warm 🙂
Thanks! It sure is pretty but can get you if you do not pay attention when behind the wheel! Stayed home today!
Glad you’re safe. We have some snow, but only about 3-4″ at the moment. It’s cold and windy, though. Stay warm!

I decided to stay home today. The drive yesterday was frightening! My 20 minute drive took almost an hour, and yes the car slid on the road too. Wish our county would maintain these roads in winter but we have a small population where I live so less tax money paid, less benefits that I do pay for! You stay warm too! Enjoy the beauty! ^..^
I’m glad to hear you decided not to drive to work today. Wise decision. I have regular tires on my car, so I’ve been home the past four days, but did stock up on everything before the snow arrived. It was fun watching my neighbor’s grandchildren sledding down my sloped front yard yesterday. They had a blast! And I’ll be getting snow tires as soon as I can safely drive down to the tire store. Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing your winter wonderland with us!
Glad you and the boys are doing well Marcy! If I could do it without injuring myself I would be sledding down the hills here too!
I love snow on tree branches. And, I hate icy tailgaters. Hang in there! We have a lot more winter coming our direction. 🙂
Ended up staying home today. Yesterday’s drive was too scary! Roads are no better today!
Good plan. Be safe!
Thanks!
I hope you have four-wheel drive.
Four wheel drive did not help the two that were stuck when I drove to work yesterday…Most here drive on all weather tires…we will be getting a new car shortly and it will be an AWD vehicle with snow tires…Those really help!
Pennsylvania looks a lot like this at the moment too. Have to get out with my own camera soon.
Oh, I bet it is pretty there! Thanks for the comment!
I think that the ice that can form is probably one of the worst aftermaths of a snowfall, more so when you have to drive somewhere. Just go slow, and if anyone gets up behind you and tailgates simply go slower.
Photos remind me of my childhood days back east – and all the fun we had as kids playing in the snow…….thanks!
I drive very slow in when there is ice on the road! Thanks for the advice PJ!
