As summer draws to an end the few remaining flowering plants in my garden are giving it a final go! These were the photos that I was taking the other day, with the help of Scrappy, before the praying mantis jumped on my lens!
One of my favorite flowers in the garden is a plant called “Bat Face.” You will see why it is so named!
I have an amazing variety of salvia in my yard. Looking at this photo I see a skirt, pink tights and red shoes…What do you think?
The Marigolds splash the garden still with their lovely shades of orange!
As the Aster flowers dwindle and curl they remind me of a bow made of ribbons.
The Galardia are in various phases and the colors are truly amazing! See if you agree.
As these flowers fade their centers become works of art!
And a seed pops off the spent flower head leaving the eye of a star behind!
While I will be sad to see summer go, I will not miss the heat, but will miss the lovely flowers that have given my garden so much color!
Hey, thanks for stopping by today! I hope that you enjoyed the photos! Enjoy what remains of the weekend!
I have always loved bat-faced cuphea. 🙂
It is a very pretty plant! I love this one with the red and purple.
G’day Barb! LOVE Bat Face and had never seen before, true!
While Summer is ending for you, THANKFULLY, it is heading here where we need to defrost too!
The bat face flower is quite beautiful….Thanks for the comment and enjoy your warm up as we look forward to the cool down!
Very nice macro shots, the colors found when looking so close are amazing. Thanks for showing what most of us never really see.
Your flower photos are spectacular. I, too, am a flower lover; however we have a real problem with deer. They devour everything I plant except marigolds. Any suggestions?
Thank you! Try snapdragons and zinnias. Fleabane is a lovely little white daisy like flower which they leave alone too. In the spring go for rhododendrons and daffodils. Crocosmia is another that they will not eat. Naked ladies are green in the spring, then they die back and in late summer they throw up a cluster of pink flowers. Rosemary and lavender are good too. The deer do not like plants with fragrance and oils. Hope this helps!
