Yesterday, M & I took a trip through the foothills. We stopped in Georgetown for a bite to eat at the Mexican restaurant located in the Georgetown Hotel.
The food was good! The saloon was loaded with memorabilia!
We decided to park ourselves on the bench outside for a bit when a bird flying in caught our eyes! Looking up to where she went we found ourselves looking up at a mud nest! Looking closely, we discovered we were looking a baby barn swallows!
We were glued to watching the mother feed the babies! She was in and out so quickly that it was hard to catch a good shot of her. This is the only photo I was able to capture with the mother bird!
This bird makes its home here in North America over the summer for breeding and then returns to, from what I was able to discover, Central and South America over the winter. How fortunate are we to get to experience this bird! Check out these other baby photos…
Aren’t they cute?
Have a great Sunday! And, thank you for stopping by!

Thank you Kitty for linking my blog to yours!
Cute little fellas in the nest! I like your blog, glad I found it 🙂
They are sweet! Thank you Jess!
Haha! You were describing food and the first picture that opened was a pile of mud which I of course thought….hmmmmm. Is that cheese steak ?? Laughs !
Hee hee!
I know it was really funny. I am not certain if you have ever seen a Philly Cheesesteak or not but the similarity at a blink was uncanny!
It did look like the meat and maybe tomatoes…Philly Cheesesteak here are a bun with beef, bell peppers (which I am allergic to), onions and jack cheese. So the colors sort of fit… I am just glad that you had to take a second look and that it was funny for you! Love making folks laugh! 🙂
Your Blog is wonderful Babs!
Many thanks K!
Nice photos and something most of us don’t get to see to often, if at all. Thanks for capturing these.
We love barn swallows. When we lived in Mexico we spent many hours watching a mamma swallow feed her babes in a nest built on our patio.
It was amazing how quick she was! Did you find that to be the case where you observed them too?
Yes we did and it seemed that mom and dad took turns leaving the nest to forage for food for the babies.
And without your sharp eye and keen awareness of your surroundings, “M” would have missed the whole show! 😉
She might have, but I certainly could not let that happen!
