This week, Sara Rosso, over at WordPress came up with the subject of “UP” for this week’s photo challenge! I am up for this, are you? So let’s see what’s up, shall we?
Standing at the bottom of the Moaning Caverns I check out the staircase that will take me back up to the surface. There are a lot of stairs to climb while holding onto the handrail going up!
Can you get vertigo looking up? I think I did when I looked up at the canopy of the trees in the Big Trees State Park.
Standing in Yosemite Valley what could be more awe inspiring that to look up at El Capitan?
Wandering around the town of Coloma, where gold was discovered, we walked into the blacksmith’s shop. Looking up I noticed wagon wheels hanging from the rafters.
In Sonora, another town here in the Motherlode, I discovered beauty as I looked up at the courthouse.
Early one morning I received a phone call from my neighbor E telling me to grab the camera and come on down. Here was my first look…
Sitting on the back deck, clouds fill the sky. I hear the sound of a small plane. I grab the camera and get my final shot for this challenge!
Thank you for visiting today! If you would care to see more of this photo challenge just click here!
Here are a few that I really like:
Thanks again for stopping by today!

I learned just a couple of weeks ago that we have an El Capitan down here, too! It’s on my list to go find a way to get closer to it.
I heard of that but am unaware of where it is…maybe in Hemet?
No. It’s right over in El Cajon/Lakeside/Santee.
That’s right! Thanks!

oh that staircase in the cavern!
Lots of stairs!
Great variety of shots, I love the wagon wheel one, there is something about it, maybe because wheels should be down not up. I also love the tree. (I am a nature lover)
Thank you Lily! I liked the wagon wheels too! I had such an assortment of “UP” it was hard to choose! Thank you for the comment! Please do visit again!
WOW! LOVE that staircase and now want to climb! 🙂 You always present things from a U-N-I-Q-U-E view! I am waiting until I had my first sip of my cuppa to enjoy too! 🙂
My legs hurt for a week!
All your photos do definitely make one look UP, very nice. And I do think you can get ‘reverse’ vertigo from that circular staircase.
Excellent photos for the current challenge. Love the perspective of the tree, I think it gave me a stiff neck though 😉
I honestly felt vertigo looking up and photographing that tree shot. It was a bit disorienting! Thanks for the comment Gracie!
My favorite is the staircase, although I’m not sure I’d enjoy going up!!
janet
It was a workout!
The moaning Cavern picture is just inspiring! How deep were you?
Maybe 165 feet down. Not quite sure. It was amazing, particularly when the docent turned off the lights! A trip well worth taking if you have the stamina!
I just hiked 6 miles in the dark at a Volcano , I think I could do it and I love spelunking!
This was between Angels Camp and Murphy’s, both in CA. There is another in the town of Murphy’s! There is a lot to see here in the Foothills! You might be adventurous enough to repel in this cavern, which you can do too!
Not sure that my last reply went through. There are two caverns in the area. Murphy’s and Angels Camp. The Moaning Caverns: You can repel down…Lots to do in our small world here! We did the volcano hike to the coast years ago, but did not stay for the fire works shots. We had come from Kona and had quite a drive back…
I would love to see those caves!
Sounds like you have a trip to plan!
Yes I do Babs!!
