This week’s Wild Weekly Photo Challenge’s topic is the Sunrise. The site asks for us to go outside this week and catch some sunrise photos. I was not planning on going anywhere this week so I am cheating a bit and I am submitting to this challenge some of the beautiful sunrises I have captured! So grab your cup of coffee and let’s head outside to check out some amazing sunrises! Ready?
It was early morning when we were awoken by the sound of thunder. I grabbed my camera and headed out to the screened in patio room while my husband put on a pot of coffee. There were huge clouds that were colored by the sun and I was lucky to catch a shot that included not only a faint rainbow, but lightning as well!
The above photo won the award for the Audience Choice Award! Thank you to those who commented! We had taken a trip down the western coast of Mexico. As we were returning back to Long Beach, my husband and I got up before the sun and headed out to the starboard deck of the ship. I was lucky to capture the sun rising over the distant land. The view was breathtaking!
One morning, again stepping outside on the deck of my home, I was able to catch this God-like photo! The lower clouds blocked the sunlight and cast shadows creating these beams of light.
Another morning I discovered the colors of a rainbow in the sunrise.
Pretty, isn’t it?
When we lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, there was a lovely walking trail that bordered the San Francisco Bay. My breath caught in my throat when I saw the San Mateo Bridge silhouetted by the rising sun.
Here is a shot that I took recently of virga in the morning. It was an amazing sight indeed!
One last shot. This was not exactly at sunrise, but it is of the rising sun after we had a snow event here. The glistening snow was just beautiful!
There are some amazing entries already for this challenge so be sure to check them out! You can get there by clicking here! Feel free to leave me a comment on the Let’s Be Wild website! Look for my black and white kitty and click on reply!
Thank you for stopping by today, and have a great Friday!
Gorgeous photos Babs, my favorite time of the day, when I can get my lazy body out of bed. Otherwise I’m usually in the car on my way to work and there’s nowhere to stop and take pictures. However lots of scenes have been memorized 🙂
So glad you got the winning entry!! Totally awesome, and you deserved it!!
Thank you Shannon!
I really like the lightning photo. Really different from anything else!
Thank you for your comment Shannon!
They are all beautiful, but my vote goes to lighting and sunrise for its being unique and beautiful at the same time. 🙂
Thank you Imelda!
Where are your photos?
Some beautiful examples here. Really lovely.
Thank you C!
These are all spectacular Barb. I have never seen lightning like that at sunrise. 🙂
Those clouds in casting shadows are an amazing colour and formation and catching the lightening makes that photo very special
Thank you! I think that the photo is pretty special too!
Beautiful! Magnificent sunrises! Pinned Good morning San Francisco Bay onto my Pinterest board reflections. 🙂
Thank you! Will check out the pin that you did!
I looked at your pictures before I read your words…game on : )))
Can’t I just use one of the 1674 that I already took ?
I do not understand what you are asking me. Could you please explain?
It just dawned on me that you might be asking if you can use older photos that you have taken. Certainly you can. While the LBW website wants to inspire folks to get outdoors, sometimes one cannot do that in the week for a specific challenge, so older photos can be used. The places that I posted in this challenge are over a period of time.
I hope that is what you mean…As far as game on, there are a lot of others that post on their site that take some pretty great and amazing photos…so…game on for you to meet the challenge against me and the others! Have fun with it! I do!
Thanks so much for answering! I was actually kidding- the bulk of the photos that I post are from my extensive library of over 10,000 pics (1600 or so are of sunrise and sunset) Only since I started blogging on a small scare compared to others have I gleefully begun to use them one by one. Rarely do I have time to take one just for a specific challenge – wish I did- maybe someday I will !
Thanks Babs!
Kathryn
I too have thousands of photos! You should post sunrises on that challenge! I am rarely up early enough, or I have too many of the same scene but different clouds, colors, etc…Hugs and have a great day Kathryn! And thank you for all your comments! – B
I have to figure out how to start a new separate Blog- these things take time and a learning curve for me : )
I have another blog that both my husband and I write. I just signed up as a new user. That part is easy. I chose a different theme, which is a bit harder to work with, but I am getting used to it…slowly but surely! Good luck!
yum yum! they are all beautiful! i think the rainbow of colors is my favorite. z
How are you my dear friend? I like the rainbow colors photo too, but I also like the one with the bridge! Hugs and I hope all is well with you!
hey
all is great, though each morning we seem to have no power, and the afternoons ‘everyone’ must be online, so the service is frustrating! i’m busy gardening, weeding, fixing spilled paint goofs, and am working on the back side of the window panel.. the flip side is called, ‘if fish could fly.’ it’s a fun work.
now i’m about to go outside, pull weeds for a while (we got another half inch of rain) and then work in the bodega/studio…
so much to do, and just little ole me! ah, tis nice to have a full life! thanks for caring!
z
Send some of that rain up this way! I cannot wait to see fish could fly! I need to pull weeds too but am feeling a bit lazy today. Actually I have some photography work to do today…Got some great texture shots the other day….Hugs and stay dry! Have a wonderful weekend! – B
si! it’s great to have a creative mind and the luxury to follow through on so many great whims! have fun with your photos! texture is a great theme! z
I took shots of madrone bark that is truly colorful and has wonderful patterns. Some of these photos almost look like breasts! Also the bark from the ponderosa pines here. Ahhh, a future post!
Beautiful clear skies Barb.
Thank you Gaz! Have you been posting lately? Have not gotten but one notification in the last week or so…
I had a little break. I posted last Saturday and Sunday and last night.
I only received notification on the post titled “My Week in Instagram.” Did you have a good break?
Yes. I just needed time away from work and social media. I didn’t even capture many images. It was good. I’m back now though 🙂
Sometimes a break is needed! While I truly enjoy your posts, I do not read every day…I cannot wait to see your upcoming posts! Best to you Gaz!
Thanks Barb. The good thing is I get your funny e-mails too 🙂
I love sending you those humorous moments that are shared with me…I have to share too! I hope that you enjoy all that I send you! Happy to have you as a friend Gaz!
I really enjoy them Barb and often forward them to other friends.
Thank you for doing that Gaz! I am glad you enjoy my posts! I enjoy yours too!

Got this one! Thanks! Looking right now! I cannot wait to see the food photos! Hugs – B
Gorgeous photos! “Casting Shadows” and “Lightning at Sunrise” are my faves. Thanks!
Thank you Marcy! And not only for the comment here but the comment on the LetsBeWild.com website!
I really like the one that captured the lightning – good timing – as trying to get a still photo of lightning isn’t the easiest. All in all nice photos.
