Do you really want to know? Honestly, some things should be kept to ones self, but in this case she decided I could share her secrets with you! Here in the Sierra Foothills we are surprised by what we can come across even if it occurs overnight!
I received a call from my neighbor, who shall be called E, to come over as there were “critters on the garage” that I needed to photograph! Combing my wayward hair, brushing my teeth, and tossing on clothes, I grabbed the camera bag and all the different lenses, and headed on over.
Indeed there were a bunch of critters there at E’s house, all over the wall of the house by the light that had been left on all night. Yes, this was early in the morning by most folks standards, but for those of us in the Foothills, making a call like E did at 6:30 a.m. is not unusual. Here is the first critter that I saw…
You are! So here I am up close and personal!
The identifier of this little cutie pie is that the wings resemble leaves, perfect for blending in anywhere else but on the garage! The other critters: A little over a half dozen praying mantis! These guys were a mixture of browns and greens.
How about one close up?And finally, one with hot feet!Who knows what tomorrow will bring? More insects? Or maybe more fox, a deer, a bear? Stay tuned!

That is one insect I actually don’t mind. I like seeing them. They move so s l o w …….. 🙂
I love the image of the gree grasshopper Barb
It is a katydid! I thought it was really cool too!
Good pics, thanks for sharing the larger insect life of your neighborhood.
NOW we know why you didn’t feel like baking??? Just kidding, hope you are feeling okay.
Feeling fine!
Isn’t it great to have friends/neighbors who can call – or you can call – no matter the hour or the importance – but when they say, ‘come now!’ you bolt! i have a dear friend like that in Costa Rica.. I’ll never forget when she calmly said to me, ‘there’s a tarantula swimming in my pool.’
she was so pleased when i volunteered to retrieve it!
i love the photos and the story!
