Today the temperatures are destined to be in the high 90’s. Here in the foothills this means get everything done very early in the day. In the vegetable garden, one of the secrets to getting the sweet flavors out of your produce is to harvest early. The sugars are at their highest. As the day wears on, the sugars turn to starch making them less sweet.
So, I ventured down to the garden this morning, red basket in hand. I was not expecting the need to make two trips, but two it was! Here is what I harvested this morning…
After all dries, I will be freezing some of the corn, and I will partially cook the green beans for freezing as well. Of course, I will be sharing with Jorge who helped me prepare and plant my lasagna garden, and the neighbors too, of course! Enjoy your Saturday!

Mouth is watering! Everything looks wonderful!
Looks like a good haul, and tasty as well.
