You have heard that saying haven’t you? “A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.” The meaning of that statement is: It’s better to have a lesser but certain advantage than the possibility of a greater one that may come to nothing. Be that as it may, it has nothing to do with this post other than the fact that I had hummingbirds on my hands today! Wahoo! Check it out!
OK, I had to save the best shot for the last…Check out the cute butt on this hummer!
We are inundated with hummers this year. First time ever. My husband just counted about 40 in front and we have 10 in the back. Stay tuned if you are a birder, or not, for some amazing photos of nature here in Life in the Foothills!
Many thanks to my husband for putting up with me in this endeavor to interact with our local wildlife! I certainly will not do this with the fox!

Wow, that is soo cool. We only have a few…40 must be like a swarm..
I know that envy is not becoming but seriously I am green with envy. Thanks for sharing these photo’s!!!!
I am glad that you enjoyed the photos PC!
Lovely stuff indeed. Typical of you Barb to develop a new saying “Two birds in the hand are better than one in the bush”.
Best,
Conor
ohmygod, ohmygod youve got hummingbirds in your hand, youve touched them, that is so awesome! arent they afraid, how did you do it? 😀 love the photos 🙂
I saw an article about a woman who could hold the hummingbirds, and I just thought to cup my hands on the feeder to see if the would settle on my hands, and they did! Of course, I told my husband to have the camera ready just in case! Glad you liked the photos! And, thank you for the comment too!
So cool
It was amazing having those little tiny birds landing on my hands. I have a plan for another blog, which requires this interaction! Stay tuned and thanks for the comment my friend!
Amazing!
Those little feet felt like air!
Who would have thought that they would have touched down. I have had them hoover near me, but not touching. How long did you hold your hand out?
No more than a minute! Cool – huh?
Not many get to have a hummingbird land on their finger……..good for you. And – the tushy shot is very cute!
