I braved the cold morning air to wander about in my neck of the woods in search of photo opportunities after five days of rain. Life is returning to the Sierra Foothills in abundance. The buckeyes have come back to life, the lupine are re-emerging, and the water is running! Coming with me? Let’s go! Don’t forget to click on the photos so that you can see the detail up close!
Let’s go on now as I think I hear water running. As we walk along, I think I see wild garlic in bloom. Is it? Yes!Let’s keep going. I hear the call of Rock Creek.Remember the photo of Rock Creek and the gold panner? Here it is again.Let’s look at the other side of the bridge.Doesn’t the air smell really good? Crisp it is and very fresh. I hear another waterfall. And will you look at the color of the rocks and the green, green moss?Moving on from here I think around the bend we will come across the American River. Ah, yes, here it is!Notice how the river surrounds the center hillside? Let’s start heading back. Look at the colors there along the hillside!Look at those Ponderosas lit up by the sun breaking through the clouds.Hey, thanks for coming with me today. There are a lot more places to explore, so let’s plan on doing this again soon. OK?In My Neck of the Woods

Great photos, I enjoy the tours very much.
Thanks for the memories. It’s been too long since I trudged through those canyons. Lovely shots!
Thank you Gunta!
Nice images and location. Colchester (UK) has less wild suroundings, but you can strike into nature within 30 minutes walk in any direction. Our woods are ancient, with a mix of nature, mystery and history.
Glad that you liked the photos, and for sharing about your neck of the woods!
