Every day, driving to and from work, I pass by a pasture that houses one huge hog. More often than not he is snoozing, and today was no different, except today I stopped for photos! And I made a new friend! He needs a name though…Want to help? At the end of this post leave a comment with a name and I will post a poll for all to vote on which name he will be given!
Without further ado…
I hope that you enjoyed these photos! I hope that you will leave me a comment with a name for the hog! Thanks for stopping by!

Sorry I missed this the first time around!
I would have added Rusty to the pot.
Now that’s a big hog!! XOXO – Bacon
Imagine 2,000 lbs of love from this guy!
Thank goodness I’m only 45 pounds! XOXO – Bacon
Saw your buddy Sunday! He’s massive! Enjoyed the pics
I’m not sure about a name but as hogs go, he’s a looker!
I thought he was quite handsome too!
Appears to be female so I am going with Susie or Gracie
Susie because she reminds me of a Lazy Susan and Gracie because she is one of God’s creatures.
It’s a male. One more try?
He’s beautiful
No name?
Boss Hogg
Thank you!
I remember you saying that you call your homestead “Green Acres.” So, I’m thinking a good name for the hog would be “Arnold” after the pig in the TV show.
Quoting the Wikipedia entry on that show: “Recurring characters included the Douglases’ childless elderly neighbors, Fred and Doris Ziffel, who ‘adopted’ a pig named Arnold Ziffel as their ‘son.’ Arnold understands English, lives indoors, and is pampered. He is an avid TV watcher and a Western fan, who attends the local grade school (carrying his book pack in his mouth). Only Oliver seems cognizant that Arnold is just livestock, although he frequently slips and begins treating him as a boy. Arnold makes regular appearances throughout the series, often visiting the Douglas home to watch their TV.”
I’m sure whatever name you choose will be wonderful. After all, a pig by any other name would smell as sweet, would he not?
Great comment Marcy! His name is in the pot!
Grizzly
Thank you Kathryn!
Looks like a Walter to me, don’t know why, the name just popped in to my thoughts and Walt seems to fit. Nice photos.
Walter is in the pot!
How about Hamlet.
Hamlet is in the pot!
I assume by the belly, it’s a girl? I don’t know much about hogs. How about Suzie…can’t you just picture her all dolled up for a hog contest with a big blue bow:). Happy Sunday!
I forgot to mention that this is a male…However, thank you for the name and the comment!
I’m voting for “Cutie Pie”
Hmmmm. Dumpling!
He certainly has personality
