One of the things that happens here in the foothills, being that life here is so laid back, is that folks just drop on by! And, little did we know that a guest would be dropping in last night!
We were having an evening cocktail just before a lasagne dinner, and what with the weather being so warm lately, which is a typical winter tease before the storms hit, we were sitting out on the deck. As we live near an airport for small planes, we could hear one coming in. The sun had lowered in the sky and I grabbed my camera. We sight the plane.
When planes come in to our area they are supposed to circle the area before landing. The pilots need to check the runway to ensure that there are no deer or other wildlife on the runway. This pilot was doing just that. We could hear the plane had lowered and I hoped to get a photo of it coming in. I got lucky!
Here is the plane passing by us overhead.
Not far from the runway, it appears that the plane will just clear the trees!
I took the camera back in the house, and went back outside to finish my drink with my husband. About five minutes later, the dog started barking, alerting us that someone was here. Now how is that for dropping in? It was one of our neighbors who flew in and stopped by! Now how did he know I was making lasagne?
Have a great day and if you are in the neighborhood, drop on by! Thanks for the visit today!

Ah-h-h-h! The aroma…rose right up into the cockpit!
Glad that you flew in Sharla!
what a great fly in! and to be rewarded with lasagna! you’d better watch out or your restaurant will get mentioned in aopa or some pilots’ bulliten for the best-kept dining secret in the area!
Hee hee!

Little did you know that that aircraft was bearing an unexpected dinner guest! Love the story and the beautiful shots. Thanks!
Dropping by via airplane…….now that is a unique entrance. However, I am more interested in that lasagna you mentioned.
There is the feeling of freedom and peace in your photos. Isn’t it lovely spending the last drops of daylight on the porch?
It is indeed!
